      Dies in Church

The fourth sudden Death in Berlin since New Year's

The widow Magdalena Wagner died a sudden death on Sunday morning in St. Paul's Lutheran Church here. The elderly lady had not been healthy for a long time, but decided to go to church again because of the lovely weather. It was her last walk. She had scarcely sat down in the church, when she suddenly collapsed, and had to be carried into the sacristy, helpless. Dr. G.H. Bowlby was summoned, but he discovered that death had already occurred, as a result of a heart attack. The body was transported by ambulance to the residence of the deceased on Wellington Street. Burial took place on Wednesday in Floradale after a funeral service at 9 a.m. in St. Paul's Church here. The deceased was born near Strassburg in 1836, married Heinrich Wager in 1856 (he died five years ago). They settled in Floradale, and approximately a year ago, she came to Berlin. Six children survive the deceased, namely - John, in Grafton, N.D.; Heinrich and Mrs. C.H. Miff in Berlin; Mrs. C.H. Heimbach in Ayr; Mrs. R. Tanner in Guelph; and Mrs. G. Lackner in Floradale. This is the fourth sudden death in Berlin since New Year's. The three previous ones were: the teacher, Miss Woods; Heinrich Knell, Jr.; and George Wettlaufer.3a
