  Historical Atlas of Wellington County published 1906 STONE ABIJAH, (d), late of Wellesley, was b in Simcoe County 1818 and died at the age of 78. He was of English descent and owned a small farm in Gwillimbury. With a large family to provide for, it became necessary to look for wider field of labor; accordingly in 1848 he purchased 285 acres in Wellesley Township and 115 in Peel. The land at that time was worth $500 per lot and is now valued at $28,000. Mr Stone was always active in every work that pertained to the welfare of his Neighbours, and his country. He was one of the pioneers whose name is worthy of a place with the nations builders of Canada. He took a great interest in church affairs, and was Stewart and Trustee of the Meth church for many years. In political views he was a Liberal. He M. Mary Landerkin who d. at the age of 80. Issue: Mrs John Cadwell (d) John in Perth Co; James H in Peel; Mrs a Cunningham in Wellesley Tp; George in Wellesley, on the old homestead and Mr Stone in Wellesley. ______________________ Abijah was the son of Solomon West Stone 1789-1867 and Esther Hayward 1782-1830
