- ALEXANDER MORGAN RUTHERFORD
Passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 30, 1977 at Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall, Alexander (Alex) Morgan Rutherford aged 92, beloved husband of Norine of Grosse Isle, Manitoba.
Born March 22, 1885 in Galt, Ontario, Mr. Rutherford farmed with his brother Lorne at Reston, Waskada, Roeser and Grosse Isle districts before purchasing his own farm, where he lived until his death.
Mr. Rutherford, always interested in his family and friends, look an active part in community and church affairs. He served as a trustee of the Grosse Isle School Board and was active in the Red Cross for many years. He was an elder of Grosse Isle United Church for over forty years and a faithful member until his death.
Predeceased by his first wife, Nellie Brown, his parents, brothers Tom, Rob. Norman and Lorne and sisters Jean and Elsie, Mr. Rutherford is survived by his loving wife Norine, son Jack and daughter-in-law Lois; daughter Mary and son-in-law Henry Meinschein of Randallstown, Maryland; grandsons Mark, Meinschein, Larry, Randy and Rick Rutherford, and grand-daughters Wendy and Jo-Ann Rutherford.
Funeral services, conducted by The Rev. C. Moerman, will be held on Tuesday August 2, 1977 at 2:30 at Stonewall United Church with interment in Stonewall Cemetery. Mackenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
Flowers gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to The Grosse Isle United Church Memorial Fund or The Canadian Sunday School Mission.
