  • Notes
    • Eugen Huber

Almost everyone in Berlin knew little, crippled Eugen Huber; everyone respected the polite boy, who was always ready with a friendly greeting, and everyone felt sorry for him because of his suffering. Since the fall, the boy had been ill and some time ago he was affected by dropsy. His condition became noticeably worse, and on Thursday evening, he was released by death.

The deceased was a son of the painter and decorator, Mr. E. Huber, and reached the age of seventeen years. He had suffered all his life; he was once unsuccessfully operated upon for the removal of his hump; various illnesses affected him from time to time; he was however always cheerful and happy. Every Wednesday, when he picked up the "Journal", he always had a friendly greeting, in spite of all his bad luck.
He was an obedient son to his parents, and led a very Christian way of life. On this point, his short life can serve most healthy boys as an example. He was fully conscious to the very end and his last words were:

"Oh, Mama! Let me rest my head against you one more time.
      Mama, I'm going away, "Good-bye".

Burial, on Saturday morning, followed a memorial service in the Catholic church here.
