- ADOLPH GLAESER. MANAGER OF THE ELMIRA FURNITURE CO. LTD. ELMIRA, ONT.
Mr. Adolph Glaeser, a native of Germany, born in Prussia, has from his earliest boyhood been engaged in business life. After finishing his business training in a Banking and Mercantile Institution, at his birthplace in Steinau, he left for Berlin, Germany, and connected himself with an export house that, principally exported its merchandise to the United States. Animated by the spirit of Commerce, he went to New York in 1883, and from thence came to Berlin, Canada. Here he connected himself with the furniture business and has continued in it ever since. Three years ago he located in Elmira as manager of the above mentioned business. This young and enterprising concern has, in three years, earned for itself a widespread reputation as manufacturers of Chairs, Tables and Rockers. The new factory, since its incepiton, has worked full time every working day in the year and turns out a fine line of Dining Chairs, Parlor Tables and Rockers, selling principally in car loads lots in all parts of the Dominion, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. Although the firm started the manufacture of furniture only three years ago, they have already outgrown the capacity of the plant and find themselves compelled to enlarge their factory, with an addition 50 by 100 feet, three stories high, or double its present size. Building operations will be commenced early next spring, and with their splendid shipping facilities possessed in both G. T. R. and C. P. R. railways, it has a bright and prosperous future ahead. During a long period of residence in Berlin, Mr. Glaeser won a splendid reputation as a citizen of integrity, ability and genialty and the Old Boys at home congratulate him on the success which is meeting his efforts abroad.
