    • ROBERT VODDEN DECEASED.

      After an illness of about three weeks Robert Vodden, who has been a resident of this locality for the past 25 years, was called away to his long home at 12.15 a. m. last Monday, in his 85th year. The end came at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Mitchell, lot 21, con. 5, Grey. - Old age was the cause of his demise. Since the death of Mrs. Vodden, four years ago, he had been visiting with various members of his family. He was a native of England and was married before coming to Canada to Miss Mary Diment. They lived in Wilmot, Elma and Maryboro townships before purchasing the Thos. Gutenby farm North of Ethel, now owned by his son Thomas. Mr. Vodden owned the Barvie farm prior to his selling to Jno, Miller, now of Drew. He is survived by a large and well known family. William and John in Manitoba; and Thomas, of Grey, are the sons, with Robert deceased 16 years ago. The

      Robert deceased 16 years ago. The daughters are - Mrs. James Hamilton, of Gray; Mrs. Jno. Miller, Drew; Mrs. Jno. Lindsay, Grey; Mrs. Joseph Hutobison, Monkton; Mrs. Jno. Mitchell and Mrs. Donald McNichol, of Grey township. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church and a Conservative in politics. He was a faithful husband, a good father and a kind neighbor. Wednesday afternoon the last rites were solemnized and after an appropriate service the remains were conveyed to Elma Centre cemetery for interment. The bereaved have the sympathy of the commanity. Rev. Mr. Armstrong.conducted the service.
