  Mrs Esther (Bachert) Walter was born April 7, 1843 near Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and departed this life from her home in Wakarusa, Ind, April 13, 1923, aged 80 years and 6 days. Dec 15, 1862 she was married to John A Walter at Berlin, Canada. To this union were born 13 children of whom 10 survive, as follows: Jacob and Charles of Wakarusa, Mrs Jay Green and Mrs Dr Baxson of South Bend, Ind, Sam of Elkhart, Mrs L Flickinger of Detriot, Mrs Arthur Tobias of Nappanee, Mrs C F Howser of David City, Neb, Mrs J B Wisler and Mrs Michael Burger of near Wakarusa. Fifty-eight years ago Mr & Mrs Walter moved to near Nappanee and continued their residence in this part of the country until death. March 19, 1913 Mr Walter died. To mourn their loss there remain the ten children named, together with 26 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the Christian church Monday afternoon, Rev Defur officiaiting. Wakarusa Tribune 19 April 1923
