ED SPENGLER'S LIFE COMES TO A CLOSE
RESIDENT OF FRANKLIN AND ACKLEY 60 YEARS
Came to America with His Parents;
Located at Freeport, Illinois
\emdash Funeral Friday.
Ed. Spengler, resident of Osccola township, Franklin county, and Ackley, during the past sixty years, died at the family home here Tuesday evening of infirmities consequent to advanced years. Through the many years he had been hale and hearty; an industrious and earnest worker. He came to south Franklin county at a time when there were few of the modern conveniences, but with earnestness and thrift, he prospered and did his part in the development of Franklin county. The family left the farm to become residents of Ackley. His brothers, Ben and George, preceded him in death; they were of the same substantial character. George died in Freeport a few years ago. Mrs. Spengler also preceded him in death.
Up until the very recent past, Mr. Spengler had been able to be up and around. Surviving are two sons, Leo, engaged in the drug business at Alison; James, living at Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Ben Willard, at Kent, Minnesota; Mrs. Lydia Hemmett, at Medford, Oregon; Mrs. Jno. Gresslin, Mrs. R. Sicard, Misses Julia and Aurelia, in Ackley.
Funeral services are to be held at St. Mary's Catholic church, Friday forenoon. at 10 o'clock. Through the many years of his residence here he had been a faithful member of St. Mary's congregation. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. J.J. O'Meara; interment in the Catholic cemetery.
Deceased was a man of worth and genuine integrity
