    • ALSTON, Douglas Gordon - December 25, 1929 - June 14, 2010 - Of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away Monday morning, June 14, 2010, at the age of 80. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and had resided in Cambridge-Galt, Ontario, Canada; Jacksonville, Florida; and Davenport, Florida. Before retiring, he was employed as a machinist by E.A. Industries. He was a member of Fruitland Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marion Alston (nee Hobbs) of Hendersonville; his children, Bruce Alston (Jeanne) of Hendersonville; D. Brian Alston (JoAnn) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brenda Whitt (Mitch) of Mills River; Brad Alston (Connie) of Mountain Home; and Brooke Alston Jennings of Roanoke, Virginia; his sister, Dianne Myslik (nee Light); fifteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. The services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Virginia 23058-5216.
