  ALTMAYER, John Was born on February 5, 1944 in Romania. He immigrated to Canada with his parents, brother and sisters in 1952, settling in Preston, Ontario. On July 27, 2018 he passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many hours by the lake, camping and fishing. A great debater of history and politics, he enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards and watching old movies. A longtime employee of WCI in Cambridge, he enjoyed an early retirement, allowing him to spend more time with his mom and dad. Predeceased by his parents Dominik and Anna Altmayer. Survived by his sister Susie Patzak (Ernie, d.2004), brother Joe (Norma) Weier and sister Katherine (John) Bauer. Loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank the Grand River Hospital Dialysis Unit and the Hospital staff for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 6 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Clement's Catholic Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, August 1, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Parklawn Cemetery.
