  Mrs. Thomas Shilling Mrs. Thomas Shilling of 72 Troy St., died Saturday at the home of her daughter in Breslau after a brief illness. She was 71. The former Lena Degen, she was born Dec. 30, 1898 in Kitchener, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Degen and had lived in Kitchener all her life. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Saviour, Waterloo, the Eastern Star, Waterloo Chapter 232, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 50 and the ladies auxiliary of the Kitchener fire department. Her husband predeceased in 1964. Surviving are three sons. William W., Kitchener; Robert K. and John E., both of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Jacob (Lillian) Heer, Breslau; one brother, Harry Degen, Kitchener and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by five brothers and one sister. The body will be at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home until 2: 30 p.m. Wednesday when removal will be made to the Church of the Holy Saviour, Waterloo, where Rev. Denton Massey will conduct the service at 3 p.m. Friends are asked to pay their respects at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. The Order of the Eastern Star, Waterloo Chapter 232 will hold a memorial service for Mrs. Shilling at the funeral home at 8 p.m. today. Kitchener-Waterloo Record 5 May 1969 pg 25
