- FREDERICK FRANKLIN HAS PASSED AWAY
WAS A PIONEER OF THE GLENALLAN DISTRICT
Thursday, September 29, Mr. Frederick Franklin of Glenallan, died of cancer on the chin, after an illness of three years. He was 72 years, one month and two days old.
As a young man he engaged in farming for years West of Glenallan. He wedded Miss Mary Fleet of Elmira. Their union was blessed with eleven children, of whom nine are living. Mrs. Franklin also survives her husband.
Many years ago, Mr. Franklin left the farm and removed to Glenallan, where he followed his trade as a mason.
The sons and daughters surviving their father are: James of Floradale; John, of Glenallan; William of Elmira; Robert of Glenallan; Loman, of Gilbert Plains, Man; Alice, (Mrs. G. Goodwin) of Elmira; Mary (Mrs. John Klein), of Elmira; Della (Mrs. H. Mewhinney), of Elmira and Ida, (Mrs. Fred Brodhagen) of Wallace Township.
His funeral was held on Sunday, October 2nd, from the family residence to the Glenallan Cemetery, after which services were held in the Glehallan Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Mr. Watt.
The funeral was largely attended and friends sent numerous floral offerings in token of esteem.
The late Mr. Franklin was an industrious man and well liked by his neighbors. Now that his long and useful life is closed and sufferings ended, the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to his be- reaved family in their hours of affliction.
