- Mrs. Austin Schweitzer, 77, of 1064 Union St. died today at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness.
The former Nellie Sherk, she was born Oct. 19, 1888, in Mannheim, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Sherk. She had lived in Kitchener for the past six years, and prior to that had lived on a farm with her husband in Roseville for 20 years. She was a member of the Charles Street United Brethren Church and of the church Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid Society.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was predeceased by her husband in February.
Surviving are three sons, Delton and Clare, both of Galt, and Clifford, Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. Grant (Helen) Jackson, London, Ont., and Mrs. Ralph (Marjorie) Bale, Woodstock, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Holtzhauer, in 1959, and a son, Clinton, in 1919.
The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon on Friday when removal will be made to the Charles Street United Brethren Church for a service at 2 p.m. Rev. A. Ward Woolner, minister of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roseville cemetery.
Donations to the women's Missionary Society will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.
