  SHOEMAKER, Norman John - After a lengthy illness, on Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at St. Mary's General Hospital, in his 84th year, Norman (Barney) Shoemaker, of Kitchener. Norman retired in 1981 after more than 50 years in the family business, Shoemaker's Groceteria, on Victoria Street South. Best friend and loving companion to Stella Jarosz for 50 years. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Yale, Ronald and Gerard and his wife Marina and his sisters, Gladys Litzgus, Helen and June Nolan and her husband John, all of Kitchener and his many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be especially missed by Ksavera, Josephine, Alfreda and Jeannette. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where parish prayers will be held at 8: 30 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9: 15 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at St. Anthony Daniel RC Church, 29 Midland Drive at 10 a.m., with Father Edward House celebrant.
