- THIRD FATALITY - May 20, 1958 - Mrs. Norman Brenneman - Fall Downstairs Fatal To Woman
A 62-year-old Waterloo woman died last night in a backward fall down a flight of stairs at her home. Mrs. Norman Brenneman, 44 Princess Street, Waterloo, was pronounced dead shortly after the fall about 9: 30 p.m.
She is the third Twin City person to die in a fall downstairs since April 6. Detective Norman Klaehn of Waterloo police said Mrs. Brenneman was on her way to bed when the fall occurred.
HUSBAND HEARS GASP
Her husband, already in bed, heard a gasp followed by commotion as his wife came up the stairs. The woman apparently fell backwards down about seven steps to a small landing. Grasping for a hold, Mrs. Brenneman knocked several potted plants off a windowsill on the landing.
Detective Klaehn said Mrs. Brenneman suffered a broken wrist and bruises in the fall. A post-mortem was conducted today.
O. Russell Lee, 57, of 99 Dunham Ave., died Sunday, three weeks after he was injured in a fall down a flight of stairs in a Kitchener store.
On April 6, another Waterloo woman, Miss Addie Snyder, 197 Herbert St., died after she fell down stairs at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. Born in Hanover Mrs. Brenneman was born Jan. 7, 1896, in Hanover. She had lived in Kitchener for the past 40 years.
The former Pearl Faelker, she was a daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. John W. Faelker.
