- MRS. E. SPIESSMAN DIES AT HANOVER IN 90TH YEAR
HANOVER, Feb. 12 - Mrs. Edmund Spiessman, a highly esteemed and lifelong resident of this community, passed away at her home on Wednesday after a brief illness, in her 90th year.
The late Mrs. Spiessman was born in Bentinek Township on Feb. 22, 1859, daughter of late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Spiesz, pioneer residents of that district. On Feb. 33, 1880, she was united in marriage to Edmund Spiessman of Bridgeport, who predeceased her in 1932. The late Mrs. Spiessman was of a quiet and kindly disposition, devoted to her home and church.
Surviving to mourn her passing are four daughters, Effie, (Mrs. E. D. Brand), of London, Salome (Mrs. H. Leatch) of Toronto, Olive (Mrs.
H. M. Dawson) of Detroit, Irene at home, and one son, Gordon of Hanover, four grandchildren, John. Leatch of Toronto, and Helen, Larry Marilyn Spiessman of Hanover and two brothers, Henry Spiesz of Durham and J. J. Spiesz of Hanover.
The funeral took place on Saturday with a private service at her late resident, Durham Road. Interment, was in Hanover Cemetery. The service was conducted by her castor, Rev. E. E. Pletch of Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church.
The pallbearers were Albert Seim, Harry Fisher, Edgar Lorenz, Arthur Diebel, Samuel Kobe and Lloyd Dippel. The many beautiful floral tributes were carried by Edward Klemmer, Lloyd Klemmer, Jack Spiesz, Melvin Campbell and Eli Brubaker.
