Notes |
- ASTLEY, Rosemary Ann
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, Rosemary Ann Astley, in her 86th year. Rosemary went to be with the Lord peacefully, on February 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving children, Theresa, Gerry (Janet), Sharon, Barbara (Les), James, and Ken (Tracy). There are 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by her husband, Gerald; parents, Joseph and Julia Straub; sister, Jean Newman; and sons-in-law, David Hayden and Robert Viscardi.
Rosemary will be sorely missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, church family and numerous friends. Mom's first church was St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, where she received the Sacraments, including the Sacrament of Marriage to the love of her life, Gerald Astley, on June 1, 1957. A couple years after they were married, they resided on Cedar Street and were one of the founding families of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church.
Mom instilled in all her children the love of Jesus and was the ultimate role model. Mom was actively involved in the Catholic Women's League for over 60 years and remained as a faithful member until her passing. In her last few years, she returned to St. Patrick's as her home church. Our Mom will be forever remembered for her smile, incredible kindness, compassion and tender spirit to help anyone who was in need.
Not to mention, her amazing baking skills for all the neighbour kids, church functions, and family to enjoy (coffee cake, YUM!). Rosemary and her husband, Gerald, owned and operated Gerry's Ceramics. Rosemary was then employed by Billian's Grocery Store and Sobeys, until her retirement from there in 2004. We would like to sincerely thank the PSW's at Fairview Mennonite Home for their wonderful care they gave to our Mom. They provided an immense assistance, that supported our Mom to remain independent in her apartment.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Home and Community Care (Dr. Sandor, Tara & Darlene), for their unwavering and immediate assistance to enable Mom to remain at home. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N., Cambridge, ON N1R 5N6, (519)-740-0669. Visitation Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 2-4 p.m.
and 7-9 p.m., with Prayers at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, Monday, February 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. The family request donations be made to St. Patrick's Church.
Cremation to follow with interment at Mount View Cemetery. Mom and Dad will be Forever with the Lord.
