• Notes

  John Millard and his wife, Elizabeth Wilton, came from Somersetshire, England, where Mr. Millard had been a paper maker. They were first in Orleans County, New York State, in 1831, then, in 1843, came to the farm on the east side of the road, opposite Emanuel Gaukel's, where their son, Mortimer Millard, resides. Those in the family were: John, died at the age of 19; George married Susannah Wismer and they lived on the north part of the Millard farm; Mortimer married Catharine Shields and lives on the old homestead; Matilda married Henry Wilcox, of Toledo, Ohio, and Elizabeth married Robert Holmwood John Millard died on May 31st, 1877, at the age of eighty three, and his wife died Dec. 28th, 1876, at the age of eighty two and a half.
