- BARKER, George Earl - Went home to be with the Lord, suddenly, on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in his 88th year. George is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 62 years. He will always be lovingly remembered by his children, Jeanne Faber and her husband Fred and Dwight Barker of BC. Special Papa to his grandchildren, Rebecca, Ryan, Scott and his wife Janet, Amy, Bethany, and cherished Poppi to his great-grandchildren, Jordan and Cameron. Survived by his sisters, Clara, Leota, Mary and Lydia. Predeceased by his parents George and Leola, four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Barker was a Veteran of the Second World War serving overseas. He was a founding member of the Preston Kinsmen Club and a member of Baracca Class of King Street Baptist Church. Family will receive their friends at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Friday, March 5, 2004 from 7-9 pm. A memorial service to celebrate George's life will take place at the King Street Baptist church, 361 King Street E., Cambridge on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 1 pm. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Emergency Dept. or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
