  Calvin Gowing Special to The Record GLEN ALLAN Calvin Gowing, 83, of Preston, formerly of Glen Allan, died today at the Coutts Pavilion, Freeport Hospi- tal, after a lengthy illness. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gowing, he was born Sept. 20, 1886, in Maryborough Township. He was a member of the Glen Allan United Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Melissa Cookman; three sons, Clarence of Moorefield, Lavern of Preston and Milton of Milton; two daughters, Mrs. Ed- ward (Vera) Timbers of Milton and Mrs. Howard (Ethel) Lichty of Preston; 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, a daughter, eight brothers and three sisters. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, were service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Glen Allan cemetery.
