  THUROO, Oscar G. - Peacefully, on Sunday, October 13, 2002, at his residence, Oscar G. Thuroo, in his 87th year, of Elmira. Beloved husband of the late Gertrude (Mattusch) Thuroo (Feb. 17, 1997). Dear father of Bill and Dianne of Elmira and Roger and Kathleen of Wawanesa, Manitoba. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Nancy, Pamela, Samantha, Alexandra, Kent and Jasmine and great-grandson, James. Brother of Edgar, Elva and Clarence, Kreller, Era, Olena and William Lautenschlager, Orland and Catherine Oma and John Ferria. Predeceased by his parents, William and Wilhomena (Ebel) Thuroo; two sisters, Olga and Ona; two brothers, Eldon and Elmer. Oscar was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas during the war. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 469, Elmira. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, October 16 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hans Borch officiating, followed by interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Elmira.
