Notes - BURNS, Dorothy - Peacefully passed away after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by family, at Lisaard House, Cambridge, on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the age of 58 years. Beloved wife of Stan Burns. Loving and ever giving Mom of Gavin and his wife Eri of Kitchener and Rachel Bowman and her husband Colin of Cambridge. Dear Nana of Selyna and Aydan. Survived by her mother, Edna Hannigan and her siblings, Margaret (Arthur), Mary (Rob), Paddy and Mike (Hillary) and by her sister-in-law, Margaret (Steve). Predeceased by her father, Paddy Hannigan and her siblings, John and Kath. Dorothy was born in Ulverston, Cumbria, England and moved to Canada with Stan in 1972. She was a faithful member of St. Gregory's RC Church, an active member in the community and strived each day to be a better person. Her family and friends knew her as someone who always put others before herself. Friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Gregory's RC Church, Cambridge on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 5: 30 p.m. In memory of Dorothy, donations to Lisaard House or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
