  BATESON, Derek - Peacefully passed away, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 26th, 2009, in his 74th year. Derek, beloved husband of the late Louise Bateson (2008); loving father of Valerie (Mike) Reilly, Derek Bateson (Jacklyn) and step-father of Wendell Cole (Joy) and Stewart Cole (Judy). Cherished grandfather of Scott, Stephanie (Osvaldo), Lindsay, Sarah-Lynn, Drew, Bryan, and Nicole. Derek served as a Police Officer with the Waterloo Regional Police Force prior to his retirement. The family will receive friends at the T. Little Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 223 Main Street, Cambridge, on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a Service of Remembrance in the Chapel at 2 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Derek's memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
