  • Notes
    • Theodore died Thursday morning of pneumonia at the home of his son Dan. He was born in Germany and in 1855 he and his brother Gottfried immigrated to Berlin, Canada. His parents dying when he was quite young, he was brought up by an uncle of whom he learned the butcher trade, following this occupation while in Canada. On July 29, 1856 he married Wilhelmina Stephan and during the war he and his wife came to Richmond township, Osceola county, Michigan and settled on 160 acres of land near Hersey, of which he cleared up 50 acres. In 1868 he homesteaded 80 acres of land on section 18, which he also cleared up, and on which he lived until 1896, when he and his wife moved to town, occupying his residence on Stimson ave. until his wife's death on Dec. 12, 1903. His wife's request was before she died , to go back on the homestead and live with her son Dan, which he did. The funeral was held at the St. Paul church, of which church he was a consistant and hard working member. He leaves to mourn their loss three sons, Ernest, Dan and John, and four daughters, Mrs. Julia Roggow, Mrs. Lizzie Dadles, Mrs. Bertha Grein and Mrs. Minnie Schumacher all of this city. Also two brothers, one in New Hamburg, Canada and one in Germany and two sisters in Germany. The relatives from abroad in attendance at the funeral were Earnest and Theodore Franke, nephews of New Hamburg, Canada. G. Franke a nephew and wife of Traverse City: and Herman Stephan, a brother-in-law of Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Franke desire to tender their heart felt thanks to all friends for assistance and sympathy.
