Notes |
- Mrs. Rosina Bittman
PRESTON. Jan. 10. Rosina Beddorf, widow of Frederick J. Bittman, one of Preston's oldest citizens in point of age and citizenship, died Saturday night, at the age of 95 years. Mrs. Bittmann, Preston resident, for 93 years, had enjoyed excellent health. She had been ill only several days. Born in Batavia, New York, she came to Preston at the age of two years with her parents, Ernst and Catherina Beddorf. She saw Preston grow from a tiny hamlet to a prosperous town growing toward cityhood. Mrs. Bittman had been making her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schultz, 127 Laurel St., at whose home her death occurred. Married in Preston, 75 years ago by the late Rev. Immanuel Wurster, Mrs. Bittmann was predeceased by her husband, 23 years ago. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and of the Ladies Aid of that church. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. O. Schultz and two grandchildren, Dorothea and Alfred Schultz, both of Preston. A brother, Henry Beddorf of Buffalo, predeceased her 35 years ago, a sister, Mrs. James Walmsley of Kitchener, 20 years ago and a son, Frederick, a year and a half ago. The funeral was held this afternoon at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, with interment, in the Preston Cemetery.
