    • Clare Ridsdale, 70

      A merchant in the Galt section of Cambridge, for 30 years, Clare Ridsdale, died Saturday, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. He was 70. Mr. Ridsdale was founder and manager of Ridsdale Electric, located on Mill Street for many years. He was born in West Luther Township moving to Cambridge with his parents, as a young child. He opened his electrical appliance store in the city, in the 1930's and following its closure, worked as a real estate broker with son Gordon for several years. Mr. Ridsdale was active in Cambridge community life. He was a president of the former Galt Retail Board of Trade, president of the Galt Lions Club, an active member for many years in the Kiwanis Club of Cambridge, a past chairman of the Cambridge International Festival and served on the board of the Cambridge YMCA. Mr. Ridsdale was life-long member of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in the city, an elder of the church, chairman of the board of management of the church and clerk of the session. Mr. Ridsdale also took an active role in city sports in both baseball and hockey. Surviving are his wife Merilees Tullock, sons John, David and Gordon all of Cambridge and six grandchildren. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home, 39 Grand Ave. North, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held tomorrow from St. Andrew's Galt Presbyterian Church, at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Mount View Cemetery.
