    • BALLANTYNE, CATHERINE (Nee McFarlane)

      At the home of her brother, Daniel McFarlane of Lemon St. in Guelph, on Wednesday, January 4, 1939, in her 85th year, after a lingering illness. Widow of John Ballantyne. Mrs. Ballantyne was born in Puslinch Township, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McFarlane, pioneer residents of this district. She lived in Puslinch until she was 25 years old, when she moved to Bay City, Michigan, after her marriage to Mr. Ballantyne. After the death of her husband, she took up residence in Galt, forty years ago. In 1935, she came to live with her brother. Mrs. Ballantyne was a member of and an ardent worker in the Presbyterian Church. Survived by one brother, Daniel. The funeral service was held at the E. F. McIntyre Funeral Home on Fri. , Jan. 6th at 2. Rev. J. L. Burgess, minister of Duff's Church, Puslinch, officiated. Pallbearers were six nephews: Peter Patterson, Alex Nicoll, J. A. McFarlane, James Sherman, John McFarlane and David Gibb. Interment Mount View Cemetery in Galt.
