- Mrs. William Barber
GALT, Mrs. William Barber, formerly of 24 Walnut St., Galt, died today, at Coutts Pavilion, after a brief illness. She was 79. Born at Cottingharn, England, May 4, 1891, she was the former Ethel May Kemshead, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George A. Kemshead. She came to Canada and to Galt, in 1912 and had lived here ever since. Mrs. Barber was well-known for many years as a singer, in Galt. She was a member of the Galt Chorale Society and won prizes for singing at the Canadian National Exhibition and at the Stratford festival. She sang for a number of years in the choir, at Central Presbyterian Church. In recent years she had been an adherent of the Forward Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband: one daughter, Mrs. Allan (Eileen) Schoenfeld of Galt and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Peeling of Brampton. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The body will be at the Coutts and Son Ltd. Funeral Home, after 2 p.m. today, where service will be conducted, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mount View cemetery.
