- JARDINE, John Henry
Peacefully, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Friday, January 15, 2010, at the age of 93. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Emily Jardine (2000). Cherished father of Carol Jackson and her husband James and Ronald Jardine. Special grandfather of Jill Dewdney (Ken), Michelle Henderson (Scott), Michael Jackson (Melinda), as well as six great-grandchildren. John will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Isabel Silver and Lillian Fyfe, brothers, Bert Jardine and Harry Jardine, sisters-in-law, Mary King, Ida Adams and Dorothy Jardine, several nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friends Lori, Dave and Emma Clements Peter Hood and Carol Spittal. predeceased by his sisters, Mildred (Doll), Helen Heit and Kathleen Spalding, brother Fred Jardine, infant drandson Scott Jackson, daughter-in-law, Barbara, sisters-in-law, Doris French and Violet Jardine and brothers-in-law, George King, George Heit, Jim Silver and George Spalding. John served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War Two and was a lifetime member and past president and treasurer, with the Royal Canadian Legion, Galt Branch, 121. He was a dedicated member of the N.D.P. party and a 28 year Union Representative with the United Steel Workers Union. He played an integral part in the construction of the United Steel Workers Hall. John was a faithful member of St. Gregory's Parish, in Cambridge. John touched many lives with his involvement in the community and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge, where the family will receive friends, on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be recited at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, will be celebrated at St. Gregory's R.C. Church, 10 St. Gregory's Dr. on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery.
