- WATERLOO CITIZEN PASSED AWAY ON TUESDAY
George Suggitt, one of Waterloo's best known citizens, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at 5.30 o'clock, in his 85th year. He had been in failing health for two years. The funeral took place this (Thursday) afternoon at 2.30 o'clock from his apartment residence above the post office. Services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Fleming of Knox Presbyterian Church. The funeral was held under the auspices of the Germania Lodge, I.O.O.F., of which deceased was a member for 57 years. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
The late Mr. Suggitt was a resident of Waterloo practically all his life. He was a moulder by trade About thirty years ago he conducted a livery stable. When the new post office was erected in Waterloo, Mr. Suggitt was appointed caretaker which position he held until his death.
He was a member of the town council for many years, holding the position of reeve and councillor. In politics he was a strong Conservative.
He is survived by one brother Leonard Suggitt, of Brampton. His wife predeceased him six years ago.
