- YOUNG, Ruby Luella (nee Whitehead)
Well known long term resident of Cambridge ON, born Brant Township ON, March 15, 1928, passed away September 29, 2010, in Port Moody, BC., at the age of 82. She went peacefully, shortly after going to sleep in her bed. She was a successful entrepreneur who, with her husband Art, owned both the "Log Cabin Drive-in Resturant" (Cambridge ON) a favourite hang out in the 50's, for its foot Iong hot-dogs and "Young's Restaurant" in the 70's (later the Tu-Lane 97 and 401). She retired to their farm and enjoyed managing her own investments. She also enjoyed travel, including cruising and wintering in Florida and later Portugal. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 33 years, Arthur Young (1980) and her wonderful partner of 11 years, Al Youngblood (1994), her sister, Sarah Gross and brother, Harvey Whitehead. She is sorely missed by her 3 children: Doug Young (Kitchener, ON), Brian Young (North Vancouver, BC), and Arlene Blaber (Port Moody, BC); their spouses Rita, Caroline, and Andrew; her 7 grand-children: Mark, Chazz, David, Christopher, Steven, Jeremy, and Nicole; and brothers John, Norman, Robert and sister Eva. Good natured, kind and generous she lived the last 13 years in BC with Arlene, Andrew and the kids, maintaining her own suite. She enjoyed shopping, going out to dinner and being with her family. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her extensive family including her full, half and step-brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. A service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010, at 1: 00 p.m., at Wesley United Church, 6 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, ON., followed by a reception at Wesley United Ainslie Hall. Interment will be at Mount View Cemetery.
