Cpl Harfitt Dies.
The death occurred Oct. 19 on active service overseas of Cpl. Sidney Gordon Harfitt of Galt, his wife was advised on Saturday at her home, 47 Forest road. Cpl. Harfitt was reported to have died from lobar pneumonia. Enlisting in the R.C.A.F. in 1940, he trained at No. 5 S.F.T.S. at Brantford and went, overseas in February 1942. He arrived in the Middle East theatre of war last August.
Cpl. Harfitt was born at Coddenham, Suffolk, Eng. and in Galt he was employed at Sheldons, Ltd. before he joined the air force. He was a member of Trinity Anglican church. Left to mourn his loss are his wife, the former Jessie S. Crump, and two-year-old daughter, Patricia Jean. His father Herbert H. Harfitt and two brothers, Reginald and Alan, are in Suffolk, Eng. His mother passed away in May, 1942,
