- JAGIELLOWICZ, Christopher
Born in 1923, close to Vilno (Poland), young Romuald was sent to Siberia at the start of Second World War. When the Axis pact was broken, Romuald lied about his age to join the Free Polish Army. He saw active service as Forward Recon/Bombadier in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy, especially Monte Cassino, Bologna and Ancona. Post war he studied in England before immigrating to Canada, in early 1950s. After a long career in Industrial Engineering, he became a technical teacher, at the secondary school level. He enjoyed teaching until his retirement. Bored in retirement, he resumed his studies in Waterloo and Moscow, to earn a Masters degree. He was a long term member of the Galt Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He leaves behind his wife Genowefa and son Christopher. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street N., Cambridge, on Friday, September 29, 2017, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Patrick's RC Church, 53 Wellington Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery.
