Mr. John Stewart who, for the last fifteen years, has been in the employ of The Goldie & McCulloch Co., as yardman, died at the residence of Mr. Adam Wightman, corner of Wellington and Beverly streets, at 3.30 o'clock, Sunday afternoon. The deceased, who has lived at Mr. Wightman's, ever since coming to Galt, had been incapacitated from work, during the past month, owing to a cancerous affection in the region of the neck. He suffered considerable pain and passed away very suddenly on Sunday afternoon, in spite of the best medical attention. Mr. Stewart was born at Galashiels, Roxburghshire, Scotland and was in the 41st year of his age. Ever since coming to Canada he has resided in Galt. He leaves a mother and other relatives in the land of the heather. A sister resides in St. Pauls, Minn. Deceased was a Presbyterian in religion and was of a quiet, obliging disposition. He was a member of Court Grand River, A.O.F., under whose auspices the funeral will take place. The late Mr. Stewart had many friends, who will regret to learn of his death. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, at 4.30 to Mt. View cemetery. Rev. Dr. Dickson conducted the solemnities.
