Ship's Doctor on Pacific Cannot Learn Sooner of Wife's Death

London, Ont., Sept. 18. The death of Mrs. Margaret G. Cowen, wife of Dr. Harry M. Cowen, ship's surgeon on a Pacific ocean liner, occurred here today at the residence of her father-in-law. Dr. Y. Cowen. Dr. H. Y. Cowen for some years has been compelled to live on the water in order to preserve his health, while his wife made her home with his parents here. She had been in ill-health, and succumbed to a sudden attack of heart disease. Her husband left Vancouver only a couple of weeks ago on his usual trip to the Orient and the Antipodes.

He cannot now be communicated with, and may not learn of his wife's demise until he again reaches Vancouver three months hence. Arrangements have been made to inter the remains at Galt toorrow. Mrs. Cowen was formerly a native of Goderich.

      ______________

      MAY NOT HEAR FOR WEEKS

London, Ont., Sept. 17.-Mrs. M. G. Cowen, whose death took place here yesterday, was the wife of a physician, Dr. Harry M. Cowen, who is at present on the Pacific, and who will not hear of his loss perhaps for several weeks. Dr. Cowen is a former Londoner. For some years he found it necessary to live on the water, and he has been in the C.P.R.'s service between Vancouver and Japan and Australia. He left on his trip a couple of weeks ago, so that it will be some time before he will arrive at a port where word can reach him. Mrs. Cowen resided with her husband's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Y. Cowen, Piccadilly street. She had been in ill-health, and her death was due to heart disease.
