  COWAN, Elsie Mary (nee Watson) Passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, peacefully in her 99th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, James Elliott Cowan (1997). Together, as soulmates, they raised their family, farmed, volunteered, entertained, travelled, and worshipped side by side for over 50 years. Elsie was an active volunteer in numerous community organizations and a long-time member of Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church. Elsie's love of life, laughter and devotion to her family and friends will be sorely missed. Elsie was always interested in the activities and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as also receiving family updates from all of her friends. Loving mother of Robert and Mary Cowan, Barbara and Sam Sheardown, and Katherine and David Hyma. Cherished grandmother of: Connie Querin (Hector); Jason Querin (Terry); Eric Cowan (Van); Rebecca Murray (Steve); Josh Cowan; Alison Krochmalnek (Jon); Lisa Kent (Rick); Robin Patterson (Tyler); and Jeffrey Hyma. Proud great-grandmother of 13 precious great-grandchildren: Karley and Cameron Querin; Vanitra, Maveric and Viviane Cowan; Aliyah and Zoe Murray; Zachary and Owen Krochmalnek; Nicholas and Maggie Kent; and Ava and Kylie Patterson. Sister of Audrey McGillvray and sister-in-law of Helen Virgo. Predeceased by sister Wilma Moffat and her husband Malcolm; brother Ken Watson and his wife June; sister-in-law Marion Cowan; and brothers' in law Don Virgo and Percy McGillvray. Friends will be received at Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church, 2 Grand Avenue South, Cambridge on Monday, July 22, 2019 for visitation at 11 a.m. prior to Elsie's Celebration of Life Service at 12 noon. Reception to follow. Interment Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.
