  Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 90, two weeks before his 91st birthday. Beloved husband of Lydia Ann (nee Horst) with whom he was hoping to celebrate 70 years of marriage on October 24, 2010. Dear father of Jim and Isabel of Elmira, Esther and John of Calgary, Alberta, Lois of Elmira, Lucy and Rod of Forksville, PA, Ken (1973), Charlie and Carol of Kitchener. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Cheryl (Mike), Dar (Paul), Julie (Mark), David, Lori (John), Ben (LaDonna), Bethany (Alex), Kelly (Steve), Jeremy, Elise, and great-grandchildren Zach, Sonya, Daniel, Julia, Harper, Nia, Paige and one due in October. Pre- deceased by his parents Manassah B. and Selinda (Sitler) Bauman, four brothers Addison, Elmer, Edgar, Abner and two sisters Gladys Steirs and Mina Schmidt. Howard was ordained to the Christian Ministry at Elmira Mennonite Church in 1945 where he served as pastor until 1966. He then served as pastor at Clarence Centre Mennonite Church, Akron, N.Y. until 1977 and again from 1980-1987 after which they moved back to Elmira, Ontario where they were members at Zion Mennonite Fellowship. In 1997 they moved to Fairview Mennonite Home Apartments, Cambridge where they became members of Preston Mennonite Church. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday (today) at Fairview Mennonite Home Auditorium from 2-4 p.m. and Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate Howard's life and faith will be held at Elmira Mennonite Church on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10: 30 a.m. with Rev. Claire Osinkosky and Rev. Steven Janzen officiating. Interment will follow in Elmira Mennonite Cemetery. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's General Hospital, with donations being accepted to all three organizations as well as the Mennonite Central Committee. www.dreisingerfuneralhome.com.
