• Notes

  Mr. James Lockie died a sudden death in Waterloo on Friday evening. He had been in Toronto on business and was attending a meeting of the Hospital Board in the evening. On the way home, he complained of feeling unwell and collapsed at the side of the road. He was driven home in a carriage, went into the house and lay down on a sofa, where he died a few minutes later. Mr. Lockie was highly respected by the public and held several important offices. He was inspector for many years of the Mercantile Fire Insurance Company, and when the main office moved to Toronto, he was named president of the company. He was also president of the Waterloo Horticultural Society and an active member of the Hospital Board. He was 65 years old.
