    • LOKER, Lawrence Gregory (Larry)

August 6, 1952 to December 11, 2009. Our dear Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle and Great-Uncle slipped away from us during the early morning on Friday, December 11, 2009, at his home at Stirling Heights Long Term Care Centre, where he spent seven happy years among the caring staff of dedicated nurses, workers, residents and visitors of residents. He lived the first 32 years of his life with his parents, George and Elsie Loker on Dando Avenue, where he "directed" the collegiate traffic and was well known by the students. After his confinement to a wheelchair he lived happily in the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, for 18 years, where he made many friends. He has been a member of the Cambridge Association for Community Living (formerly Cambridge Association for the Mentally Handicapped) since he started kindergarten at the William Anderson School at age five and during the years has enjoyed the interaction with staff and co-workers at the Workshop, the Adult Developmental Program and social events. He has always had a special place in his heart for his bus and van drivers. He was predeceased by his father, George Alexander Loker in Jan 1988 and his mother Elsie (Twining) Loker May 1984; also by his brother Bruce in 1997. Larry is survived by brother, George Loker and wife Eleanor of Cambridge, sister, Lilian Stevenson and husband, Arthur of Brighton, sister-in-law Dorothy Loker of Prescott and brother Alex and wife Marlene of Prince George, BC. Also survived by the following nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews: Gwen (Loker) Humfries and husband Doug and family - Trista, Brittany and Luke of Toronto; Geoffrey Loker and wife Barbara and family - Emily, Benjamin and Daniel of Scarborough; Janice (Loker) Hamilton and husband Stephen and family - Alexandra and Nicholas of Cambridge; Ted Loker of Kitchener; Beth (Stevenson) Siwicky and husband Brent and family - Erin, Megan, and Alexis of Brighton; Allan Stevenson of Calgary, AB; Glenda (Loker) Macdonell and her husband Kerry and family - Ronald and Jessica of Edmonton, AB; David Loker of Ottawa; Donald Loker and wife Bonnie and family - Bradley and Katie of Spencerville; Gail Loker and family - Brandon, Philip, Emily and Dirk of British Columbia. Visitation with Larry's family and friends will take place on Sunday, December 13, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at Coutts Funeral Home. A time of memorial and celebration of Larry's life will take place at Avenue Road Baptist Church, 465 Avenue Road (across from Shades Mills) on Monday, December 14, at 11 a.m., with lunch to follow. Interment will be at the Mount View Cemetery.
