- Peter Reist, "the second son in the family, was born August 3rd, 1832. On September 12th, 1852, he was married to Mary, daughter of Isaac Y. and Catharine (Clemens) Shantz. She was born May 16th, 1834. They reside on his father's old homestead, being composed of lot No. 89, German Company's Tract, Waterloo County. Their post office is Kossuth, Ontario. He is an ordained deacon of the Mennonite body. Their family consisted of seven children but only one of whom is living."
