• Notes

  In the death of Mr. David P. Lee, which took place on Tuesday last, the Township of North Dumfries loses another of its very oldest residents. Mr. Lee was the last surviving brother of the four who were prominent for many years in the history of this locality, viz.: George, Thomas, John and David. They were worthy men, kind, hospitable and most rigidly upright in their dealings with their fellow men. "Oakwood" will live in the memory of many middle-aged men now in Galt and scattered throughout the Province, for the many acts of unostentatious kindness received at the hands of its warm hearted proprietors. Mr. Lee was in his 74th year. For some time he has been an invalid from an affection of the heart, and has lately failed so fast that his relatives were quite prepared for the final end. He was saved from suffering and died a happy Christian death. His funeral took place on Thursday, an immense concourse of his old friends attending his remains to their last resting place.
