      Passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 1990, at the Hamilton General Hospital, in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Peggy (Gibbs) Elmes and dear father of Susan and her husband Michael Rolt of Cambridge, son Barry and his wife Nanci of Toronto, dear brother of Audrey (Mrs. Donald Bowie) and Edna (Mrs Kenneth Eby), Howard and his wife Gerarda all of Cambridge. Also survied by sister in-law, Gladys Elmes of Niagara Falls, New York and Marion Elmes of Sauble Beach, grandchildren Kristi, Sarah, Danny of Cambridge and Jennifer of Toronto. Mr. Elmes was born in Galt on October 11, 1919 and was retired from the Waterloo County Board of Education. Also spent many years working for the Scroggins Shoe Company. Mr. Elmes served with the Highland Light Infantry, during WW 2 and was very seriously wounded in action, July 8, 1944, while serving briefly with the Winnipeg Rifles. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 121, a member and past president of the H.L.I. of C. Association S.W. Branch. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and served on the Board Of Managers for many years. Resting at Coutt and Sons Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, where the family will receive friends this evening, from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral and Committal Services will be held from Central Presbytrian Church on Friday, January 12th at 2 p.m., with Reverend Angus Sutherland officiating. Cremation to follow.
