• Notes

  Cliff Bricker was born in St. George, Ontario but lived most of his life in Galt. Bricker started in the sport of running in 1923 and during his career which ended in retirement in the mid 1930s he ran in hundreds of races across Canada and the USA. He specialized in the marathon (26 miles-385 yards) but also ran in other long distance events. In 1927 he won the British Empire Games marathon which automatically placed him on the Canadian Olympic Games team which competed in Amsterdam in 1928 and in which race he finished tenth. In the same year, he finished third in the British Empire games held at London, Ontario. Bricker was considered to be an extremely good scientific runner, always competing against the clock rather than against his opponents.
