  • Notes
    • GIBSON, Frances Letitia (Leta) -1917-2006.

Amidst the sounds of trumpets and the applause of angels, Leta was ushered into the presence of her Lord, on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in her 89th year. Her long imprisonment to Alzheimer's disease has ended and she has been set free. Leta was predeceased by her husband, Roy in 2000. She is survived by her five children, Jim and Sharon Gibson of Windsor, Yvonne and Don Hessenaur of Farmington, Missouri, Sharan and Curt Oakes of Alma, Marilyn and Terry Gallamore of Kitchener and Betty and George Hawk of Silver Lake, Kansas. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and their spouses, Faye Oakes-Martin, Jeff Oakes, Jennifer Gallamore, Tanya Lavery, Susan Katumba, James Hawk, Chris Hawk, Erin Hawk and Steven Hessenaur. She was great-grandma to Jordan, Kiley, Landon, Ashton, Hunter and Bailey. Leta spent her life nurturing her family who were her most prized possessions. She was a long time employee of George Hancock Textiles in Cambridge. She also worked for many years as a Red Cross Homemaker. Leta was devoted to her Saviour and was a lifetime member of Calvary Pentecostal Assembly. There are no words to express our heartfelt thanks to Golden Years Nursing Home who cared for our mother for the past 13 years. Their interest and compassion sustained us through many difficult days. Special thanks to Jane Grieve of the Alzheimer's Society, who gave us direction and support as we came to grips with this debilitating disease. Leta will be resting at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrew's St., Cambridge, on Monday, from 7-9 p.m. Homecoming celebrations will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount View Cemetery.
