  • Notes
    • FORD, Emilie Margaret (Kerr)

Emilie began her journey of life on September 3, 1919, in a little log cabin on the Bruce Peninsula, known as The Bruce Beckons and found its end on June 18, 2010 at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge. She was the second youngest of a family of nine children, born to Olive (Marshall) and Joseph Kerr and was predeceased by her siblings; Melvin, George, Dora, Elva, Harold, Roberta and Greta and is survived by her brother, Elgin in Aurora. Emilie was loved and cared for by her late husband, David Ford and leaves her children; Joseph Ford (Janet), Mary Ann Bastin (Peter) and Sandy Dalton (Brian). Emilie had eight grandchildren, David Ford and the late Robert Ford, James Bastin, Jeremy Bastin (Charlotte) and Julia Silverthorn (Nathan); plus Jonathon, Joel and Martha Dalton, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Emilie's Christian faith was the driving force most of her life and led to her involvement in the Leprosy Mission and various church and mission organizations. She was interested in birds and nature and enjoyed many summers at the cottage on Echo Lake. Emilie was always busy sewing or knitting and many friends enjoyed her car rides to meetings, especially her lifelong friend, Doris Alton. More recently, Alzheimers Disease took its toll and Emilie's family and friends began to lose her a little at a time, mourning her loss over the years. Resting at Forward Baptist Church 455 Myers Rd., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends on Monday, June 21, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Forward Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Mount View Cemetery.
