David C. Kuntz, President of the Kuntz Brewing Co., Succumbs to Severe Attack of Typhoid Fever
Was in his 39th Year and Ex-Member of Town Council.
In the passing of David Charles Kuntz whose death occurred on Sunday night, a prominent and widely known citizen of Waterloo, has been removed. He succumbed to an attack of typhoid fever after a short illness. He was in his 39th year.
The funeral took place from his late residence on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock to St. Louis R. C. Church for seivice thence to Mount Hope R.C. Cemetery for internment.
The late Mr. Kuntz took seriously ill on October 13th and had been in critical conditioin. Several days ago be suffered a hemorrhage, but rallied on Saturday and hopes were entertained for his recovery. About eleven o'clock Sunday night he had a relapse and gradually sank, passing peacefully away, shortly before midnight. He was conscious up to the last.
The deceased was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kuntz, being born in Waterloo Feb. 9th, 1877.
He had been identified with the Kuntz Brewing Company for years, being its president at the time of his death. He was a former member of the Town Council, serving the municipality in this capacity for two years, and also was a former member of the Waterloo Separate School Board.
He took an active and prominent interest is sports, being an enthusiastic and popular member of the Waterloo Lawn Bowling Club and the Waterloo Curling Club. He was also a member of the Waterloo Club and of the Canadian Order of Foresters.
In June 1900 be was married to Miss Frances Dietrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dietrich of St. Clements, who survives together with five children, namely: Florence, Louis, Oscar, Edward and Charles; also two brothers and two sisters, viz: Messrs William and Herbert; Mrs. (Dr.) W. J. Fischer and Miss Ida, all of Waterloo.
The late Mr. Kuntz was of a genial personality and was highly regarded by his friends. He will be mised particularly in the circles where be was most intimately known. Among his many acquaintances his early death will occasion deep feeling of regret.
His death in the prime of life, will come as a sore bereavement to his family and relatives who will have the deepest sympathy of the community in their hour of affliction.
