    • Galt Sailor Has Taken Part in Four Invasions

      Able Seaman George A, Nunn of Galt, has seen a lot of action in his four years of service with the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Navy with which he served or two years on loan from the Canadian Navy. He has been on four invasions. North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Normandy as well as seeing action in the Far East.

      At the present time AB Nunn is spending 48 days leave at his home here, making up for some time he lost last year when he was suddenly recalled to duty while on leave. On occasion he began training for the invasion of Normandy, in the latter invasion he was aboard a landing craft.

      AB. Nunn joined the navy in November, 1940 and after one year with the Canadian Navy was he loaned to the British navy remained with them two years. For the past year, he has served with the Canadian navy.

      The only souvenir AB. Nunn has collected in all his travels is an Italian steel, helmet which he picked up in Augusta, Sicily.

      Such extensive action permits AB. Nunn to wear two service medals on his service stripes, They are the North African Star and the Canadian oyerseas Maple Leaf. He is now stationed at Halifax. His brother, Bill Nuns, Is serving in Italy with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Bill Nunn was wounded in action about year ago but returned to action upon recovery.
