- Alfred H. Duering
The death of Alfred H. Duering, well-known Twin City organist and music teacher, occurred early this morning at his home, 147 Park St., Waterloo, as the result of heart attack. Deceased was 64.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1882, son of the late George Duering and Mary Jacobi. Mr. Duering attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he has been organist for the past four years.
He was organistist at the Church of the Holy Saviour, Waterloo, at the age of 20 and has since played in most Twin City churches.
Surviving is his wife, nee Emma Totzke, whom he married on Jan. 1, 1912. One brother, Herbert, Waterloo, and a sister, Mrs. Edgar (Laura) Timm of Waterloo, also survive.
Public service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Rev. A. W. Lotz officiating. Burial will take place in Waterloo Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Remains are resting at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home until one o'clock on Sunday, when removal will be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church for services.
