Notes |
- Knell, Jean D. - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean Donalda (Anderson) Knell, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002.
Jean was born June 11, 1914, in Walkerton, Ontario and spent her life happily committed to her family, her church and her many friends.
Jean was deeply loved by her husband, Carl W. Knell who predeceased her in 2001. She will be greatly missed by daughter, Carla Bechtel and her husband Robert of Petersburg and her son, Michael and his wife Marie of Waterloo. She will be forever remembered for the fun she brought to the lives of her grandsons, Peter, Paul, Steven and Mark and her great-granddaughter, Tracy.
She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Elizabeth (Salter) Anderson; her sister, Vera Baxter and her brothers, Delbert and Sheldon Anderson.
After attending high school in Walkerton, she became a hairdresser and moved to Kitchener where she worked for her brother at Anderson's Beauty Parlor. Married in 1939, she spent her life as a true helpmate and friend to Carl. She was the number one fan of and loyal supporter to her children and later her grandchildren. She was active in the Women's Association at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, serving as president at one time and served on the Auxiliary at the A.R. Goudie Eventide Home. During her last few years, Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimers challenged her, but these diseases were not able to take away the grace and joy that were such a part of her. She will always be remembered for her wonderful smile and honest friendliness to all who met her.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel.
A reception will follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre.
If you wish, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada will be greatly appreciated by the family.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. George Berrigan and his staff and to the staff at The Village of Winston Park for their caring and compassion.
