- CROSS, Jean Elizabeth Peacefully with her loving family at her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer which she fought with dignity and grace, on Wednesday December 9, 2009, in her 60th year. Beloved wife of Timothy, loving mother of Steve and Heather both of Cambridge and Darren (Jennifer) of Toronto, devoted daughter of William and Irene Geier of Cambridge. Dear sister of Paul (Joanne), Mark (Audrey) Marilyn (Ted) Barker, Ruth (Alfred) Fach all of Cambridge and Colleen (Dave) Cooper of Waterloo. Sadly missed by her father-in-law, Joseph Cross of Cambridge and sisters-in-law Gillian (Ron) Hoekstra of Cambridge and Mandy (Paul) Minogue of Australia. Jean was born in Kitchener, and lifelong resident of Cambridge. She was very active in St.Clement's Parish were she started the Sunday School program and the library. She was instrumental in the Baptismal Program and the CWL. She was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She volunteered at St. Michael's School where she ran the craft club and the Strong Start reading program. She was a member of the Lang's Farm Village Association and the Red Hat Society. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home , 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge 519-653-3251, Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, December 18, 2009 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10 a.m. Parish prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Right to Life would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
